Mom's Journal
Per request...I am entering some of my journal entries from some books I just found.
September 6, 1992
Max is such a character. Today he was singing "Three Craw (rolling the "r's") pooped upon the bed, pooped upon the bed, pooped upon the be-eh-eh-ed" at the top of his lungs! He loves to replace words to songs and of course "poop" is one of his favorite words at age 3 1/2.
Max loves Peter Pan and tells us he will know how to fly in time for his 4th birthday. He says Sam can be Michael Darling. Max has a Peter Pan cap with a feather, a small knife and a sword and hook so he and Joey next door (or Sam if Joe is not around) run around being Hook and Pan. Max is always Peter because "Peter Pan Wins" quite simply.
When I wen down to get some sheets for Max's bed at 2:30 am the other night due to a wet bed - Max came down with me and as I pulled the sheets from the pile Dennis had folded earlier - Max scolded me - "Now look what you've done to Daddy's nice pile!"
His other phrase of the moment is - "What did I tell you?" or "SEE, what did I tell you?" - Hmm...I wonder where he hears this stuff?!
Sammy is such a little boy now - He toddles around behind Max all the time - He loves the outdoors and he plays for a long time with his Little Tykes cosy coupe. Opens the door, steps in, sits down, closes the door, then reverses the process. He says "Hi" and "DaDa" and "MaMa" - but mostly he just laughs and chuckles a lot. He is such a good little boy. Always smiling and happy.

Death by snowmobiles
Well apparently Creighton told mom the annotated version of out exciting weekend snowmobiling so I'm sure that those news have spread through the whole family circle. I figured you guys would like the extended unabridged version though so here it goes:
Well Creighton, Bronson, and I arrived to the Hardy's cabin on Saturday night. Sunday was a nice relaxing morning; we are breakfast, watched a devotional, then brother Hardy suggested that we should go on a snowmobile ride. He stayed back and left Creighton and two guys who had never driven snowmobiles before (well, I mean I did get on one at the Norda's for like two minutes 8 years ago) to their own devices. He warned us that there was this huge cliff that we'd have to be super careful on. So we go and we made it past the cliff fine.
Mishap #1: we went to this open field/hilly area which I thought of as being like the parking lot that dads take their kids to to learn how to drive. We were able to just drive around and get the hang of it. Well Bronson and I were being wise and conservative, but Creighton being the experienced snowmobiler took off up the mountain and came back a couple of minutes later and told us how sweet it was. We obviously weren't goin to go do that but he went up again. Well, this time we waited like twenty minutes and he didn't get back so I decided to look for him, which leads to (mishap #1 to be continued)
Mishap #2: I drive about five minutes up the road, decide to turn around, and promptly get stuck in a snowbank, extremely lose to sliding down a hill. So I spent the next ten minutes digging myself out until Bronson rolls up to help me, stating that Creighton still hadn't shown up. So about ten minutes later we got me out and headed back to the original spot. Creighton was there to tell us about
Mishap #1 (continued): He drove up the mountain when at the top his snowmobile decided to go haywire. So he had to spen forty minutes up there fixing his snowmobile. We decided at this point that we had had enough fun for the day (or so we thought) and we headed back.
Mishaps #3 & #4: We got back to the cliff that brother Hardy had warned us about and Bronson went first. I waited about three or four seconds then I went. I took the turn horrible and bailed as my snowmobiled barreled down this ravine. It was at this point that I noticed Bronson laying on the ground, his snowmobile rolling down the hill (at least mine slid gracefully?). So Creighton gets his over the curve properly and we three proceed to climb down to the snowmobiles in an attempt to dig them out.
Well we got about 50 feet through the trees when it got dark so Creighton called either Hardy who told Bronson and I to drive back to the cabin. We did so (definitely being guided by Heavenly Father because it was the second time I'd ever even been to the cabin) and gave brother Hardy the snowmobile. He went and picked up Creighton (who later told us he was pretty sure he was going to be killed by a group of wolves while he was alone; he was fine:)), brought him back, then went to get Sister Hardy, Creighton's little sister, and her two friends.
Which reminds me of a side note: the roads to the cabin are snowed over so you can't drive a car to the cabin. Fortunately the reservoir is frozen, however, so you just snowmobile about a mile over the lake to the cabin (compared to snowmobile five miles on the road).
Sister Hardy and the girls had started walking across the ice because two of the snowmobiles were at the bottom of a ravine and the third was picking up Creighton. So brother Hardy dropped off Creighton and then went to get the others. He got the two friends of Calysta (Creighton's sister) and brought them back and went to get sister Hardy and Calysta.
Mishap #5: The snowmobile broke down on the middle of the ice as brother Hardy went to get Calysta and sister Hardy. So they had to walk the mile from the ice to the cabin. They got there safe and we relaxed the rest of the night, not looking forward to digging out the remaining snowmobiles the next day.
The next morning two more snowmobiles were sent by the rental company to help us.
Mishap #6: One of the newly brought snowmobiles broke down on the way back to the cabin. It took about an hour, but brother Hardy was able to fix it.
Due to miscellaneous things we weren't able to get to the ravine until about three, at which point Creighton literally turned into the hulk and he I pushed, Bronson pulled, and brother Hardy drove the bigger snowmobile out of the ravine in like 20 minutes. The second snowmobile was a weaker engine so it wasn't able to get out. Creighton had work and his sister had a soccer game though so we decided to come back this weekend with the Hardy's ATV and tow it out.
Moral of the story, I'm not dead, no one got hurt, nothing dangerous happened, but I was confirmed once again that Hell is not a fiery furnace but really a freaking cold, snowy, and icy abyss.
I flippin loved the trip though. Cancel out about 16 hours of it an it was such an amazing vacation! So stoked to do it again!
Enjoy the pictures!!!
Love Sam

Explanation of pictures
Picture 1: So creighton and I decided that we wanted to get sandwiches for dinner and we knew that smiths sells good sized subs for pretty cheap...so we got them :). We each took a picture of us eating them and I wish I had creighton's picture because his mouth is so flippin tiny.
Second picture: Tipton, Clipp, Porras (mission buddies and I) got together last Friday night and were hanging out when Tipton and Clipp decided that they wanted to prank Tipton's girlfriend's apartment. We rearranged everything then thought it would be funny to have Porras waiting in their apartment with a snuggie when they got home. It didn't end up happening because we were too impatient but I really enjoyed the picture.
Picture 3: I drew this for Taylor Call...enough said.
Picture 4: Self explanatory

What the freak?!?
So I had one class last semester that had not posted its grades for the last semester but I wasn't super worried about it because that was my easiest class. So finally yesterday the teacher told us grades were posted so I went on and checked. Much to my surprise I had a B+ in the class. I went to check grade book and apparently my essay portion of the final was blank, as though they hadn't received it. Well I emailed the teacher and everything is gonna work out, but I was just like, "wow, I could've slacked off a lot more in that class." I mean, if I still got a B+ even with failing the final it could've been a super relaxing semester. Unfortunately the Sam in me punched me in the groin for thinking that so I'm back to nerd I mean normal again.
In other news, life is going super well. I have a really tough stats class tomorrow but it looks manageable. I have an interview for efy next week too! That should be sooo ballin.
Welp, that's life!
Much love, Sam

Twins
Probably my favorite picture lately - Max shared it with me after Sam and Jack showed up in his office. Duh. I apparently bought them each the same shirt at separate times without realizing it - as I told Max, I guess I liked the shirt!

Happy New Year
A few nights ago Max and I watched a movie that I love...White Christmas. It has one of my favorite songs in it and I've been thinking about it a lot as we've started the new year. It goes: "if you are worried and you can't sleep, then count your blessings instead of sheep...and you'll fall asleep counting your blessings." The last two Sundays in our ward have focused on goals and hitting the "reset" button for the new year and I've decided to let that song be my inspiration for 2013. Max and I are so blessed, we have so much to be grateful for and I'm sure 2013 will be a wonderful year for us as well. So I hope to make a point to count our blessings instead of sheep. :)
